BIP HiveCheck Results for Oct 28th – Nov 10th

Winter prep is high on the priority list so if you haven’t started now’s the time! Over 50% of respondents feeding are using 2:1 sugar syrup, and a large proportion are implementing ventilation reduction, mouse guards and insulation. A small percentage of folks have started wrapping in tar paper, it’s unclear if that’s because it’s a bit too early or if we don’t have a lot of tar-wrappers in our response pool. My family here in Maine tries to get all their colonies wrapped before Thanksgiving, which inevitable doesn’t get done but there’s no better way to spend a holiday than puttering around the hives with the family while waiting for the turkey to pop!

The BIP HiveCheck Report get’s better and better the more beekeepers we have participating so share this post with your friends and if you’re new to HiveCheck Sign Up to be a part of the response group and receive your customized regional reports!
