IMG_4407 Cropped Colletes inaequalis female — This image captures a female Colletes inaequalis or Plaster Bee a few moments before a male bee arrived to mate. This species exhibits sexual size dimorphism with the female being larger.

At a nesting site in Catasauqua, PA a female bee emerges from her finely mined tunnel.
